Impaired Driving

On October 28, 2025, at 12:21 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Kent Street West and St. Joseph Road in Lindsay, Ontario. Witnesses observed a small SUV stopped in the eastbound curb lane, impeding traffic. When approached by a witness, a male was found asleep at the wheel. Upon waking, the smell of alcohol was detected inside the vehicle.

The driver continued driving before police arrived, generating further traffic complaints on Adelaide Street North. Officers quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

An impaired driving investigation was initiated, during which the male driver exhibited clear signs of alcohol impairment. As a result, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service. The accused provided breath samples to a qualified breath technician, which registered at four times the legal limit.

A 38-year-old male from Lindsay was charged with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80

The vehicle operated by the accused was impounded for seven days, and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

He was released from custody with a future court date.
