Media Release May 27, 2026 - Impaired

On the evening of Tuesday, May 26, 2026, officers with the Kawartha Lakes Police Service were notified of a possible impaired driver in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Police attended the area indicated and were able to locate the suspect vehicle. The female driver was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with impaired operation related offences. She was subsequently released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. As a result of the charges the accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Service reminds the public that impaired driving remains a serious criminal offence and continues to be a leading cause of preventable injury and death on our roads. Anyone who suspects a driver is impaired is encouraged to contact police immediately.
