Impaired Driving Arrest
On Tuesday July 7th 2026 at approximately 2:28am Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to a call of a driver slumped over behind the steering wheel of a vehicle in the area of Lindsay Street South. Further investigation revealed that the 37 – year – old male from Lindsay was impaired. The driver was subsequently arrested and was charged with the following offences:
· Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
· Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Opioid
In addition to the charges the driver received a 90 -day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7-days.
The accused will all appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay.
Kawartha Lakes Police Officer Charged in Connection to Off-Duty Incident
The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a member of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service in connection with an off-duty incident that occurred on July 1, 2026.
On July 3, 2026, the member was charged with one count of assault and one count of uttering a threat.
The member is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on August 13, 2026.
The member's employment status has been reviewed, and appropriate administrative action has been taken. As this matter is currently before the courts, no further comment will be provided.
