Arson
The Kawartha Lakes Police are a second arson incident which occurred on December 18, 2025, at The Vape Store – 370 Kent Street West, Lindsay.
Just before 7am police received a burglary alarm call to the business, and upon arrival found that the front door had been broken and suspect(s) had started a fire in the unit, which was extinguished by the fire suppression system. There were no reported injuries.
The Criminal Investigations Branch is currently investigating the incident.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information including dashcam video which may assist in the investigation are asked to contact the Kawartha Lakes Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch at 705-324-5252 or Kawartha Haliburton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Mischief
Just after 8:00am on December 18, 2025, officers responded to reports of a male drawing swastikas on several businesses in the downtown core. The individual was quickly arrested.
A 30-year-old Lindsay male was charged with 6 counts of Mischief and one count of breach of probation. He was held in custody.
Acts such as this are deeply disturbing and can evoke strong emotional reactions, especially in light of the recent tragic events in Australia. Hate has no place in our community.

Impaired Arrest
A 43-year-old Lindsay woman is facing an impaired driving charge after police received a call for a driver who was sleeping behind the wheel of a running vehicle on December 18, 2025 at around 6:30pm.
Officers arrived at a Mary Street West business and found the vehicle with a female slumped over in the driver’s seat. The driver was awoken and during the investigation showed signs of being impaired. She was arrested and transported to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service where she submitted to tests which she failed.
The vehicle was impounded, and the accused was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol & drugs.
She was released to a future court date.
