Part-Time Special Constable - Court Security

The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service is responsible for the provision of security services at the court facilities located in the Ministry of the Attorney General building 440 Kent Street West, Lindsay, Ontario.  Court security services include the following:

  • Maintaining the security of judges and of persons taking part in or attending proceedings.

  • Ensuring the security of the premises during the hours when judges and members of the public are normally present.

  • Ensuring the secure custody of persons who are on or about the premises, including persons taken into custody at court proceedings.

  • Transporting persons in custody and under charge of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, or other police agency under contractual agreement, from inside and outside of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service jurisdiction.

Court security services shall be provided through Special Constables of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service employed for this purpose, as well as members of the Service as directed.

Workdays will consist of shifts up to eight (8) hours per day as required, between Monday to Friday.

The starting salary for this role is $30.67/hr.

Minimum Requirements

  • must be at least 18 years of age

  • must be a Canadian citizen or legally eligible to work in Canada

  • must possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent

  • must possess a valid Class G driver's license (full privileges)

  • must be of good moral character and habits

  • must be able to successfully pass the Police Fitness Award testing

  • must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position

Certificate Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid Certificate, from an accredited agency

  • Valid CPR certificate, from an accredited agency
