The first incident occurred on April 5, 2026, just before midnight, when an officer observed a pickup truck in the area of Glenelg Street West and Lindsay Street South disobey a stop sign and continue to drive erratically on several streets while the officer attempted to stop the vehicle with emergency lights activated.
Once the vehicle was stopped, the male driver displayed obvious signs of alcohol consumption and was placed under arrest for impaired operation. He was transported to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, where he provided breath samples that were above the legal limit.

A description of the male and vehicle was provided to police.

The driver failed an Approved Screening Device test and was placed under arrest for impaired operation. He was transported to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, where he provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.
A 59‑year‑old male was charged with Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). He was released with a future court date.
