Assault with a weapon

A 21-year-old Lindsay man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday morning.

At approximately 9:00am on Tuesday June 7, 2023, police responded to a complaint of a family dispute. A verbal dispute between family members escalated resulting in one male striking another in the head with an airsoft pistol. The victim attended the hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Lindsay man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at the 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 13, 2023.

 

Drug arrest

A 29-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges after an incident early this morning.

At approximately 4:00am on Friday June 9, 2023, Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the area of Russell Street and Sussex Street in Lindsay. The caller reported a guest had left the residence, taking property that did not belong to him. Officers searched the area, locating the male a short distance away. The male was found in possession of stolen property and placed under arrest. During the investigation the male provided a false name to officers.

The accused was found in possession of over $700,000 worth of drugs;

  • Cocaine – 595 grams
  • Methamphetamine – 565 grams
  • Heroin – 12 grams
  • Fentanyl – 1.6 kilograms

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Shimon James of Oshawa was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Theft over $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay.
