Kawartha Lakes Police Media Release June 12, 2023

 Impaired driver arrested

On Friday June 9, 2023 at approximately 11:15pm, a Kawartha Lakes Police constable stopped a vehicle travelling on Kent Street West in Lindsay to investigate a traffic violation. While speaking with the driver, the officer observed signs of impairment and placed him under arrest. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and one charge each in contravention of the Liquor Licence and Control Act and Cannabis Control Act. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 20, 2023.

 

Male arrested in possession of taser

On Saturday June 10, 2023 at approximately 7:15pm, Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a report of a suspicious male on the trail located in the area of Lindsay Street North and Eglinton Street North in Lindsay. Officers located the male laying alongside the trail in a highly intoxicated state. The male was arrested and searched. Upon searching the male, he was found to be in possession of a taser stun device. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with possession of a prohibited device and one infraction in contravention of the Liquor Licence and Control Act. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 20, 2023.
