Break and enter investigation

On Monday May 15, 2023 the Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to a break and enter to a St Paul Street residence in Lindsay.  Upon arrival officer learned that the suspect(s) had entered the residence through an unlocked window before leaving with numerous stolen items.

Recovered stolen vehicle investigation

 The Kawartha Lakes Police Service is investigating a stolen vehicle from a driveway on Peel Street sometime between 7:50pm and 8:10pm on Monday May 15, 2023.  The vehicle was left running while the driver entered the residence, returning minutes later to find it had been stolen. The black, 2005 Toyota Echo was later located unoccupied on its roof in the area of Chambers Road and Mark Road in Cameron.

Dangerous driving arrest

 On Sunday May 14, 2023 at approximately 1:00am while on patrol a Kawartha Lakes Police officer observed a vehicle travelling on George Street West in Lindsay in dangerous manner.  The officer activated their emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop but the driver fled.  The driver stopped a short distance away and fled the vehicle on foot. Officers searched the area with negative results.

As a result of an investigation, a 34-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with dangerous operation and flight from peace officer. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on June 23, 2023.

 

Fraud arrest

 On Monday May 15, 2023 at approximately 2:50pm the Kawartha Lakes Police Service were called to a Kent Street West financial institution for a report of fraud. Staff contacted police when a customer attempted to cash a fraudulent cheque. Police attended the institution and arrest the suspect. As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with fraud over $5000. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on June 22, 2023.
