Firearms and drugs seized during investigation

On August 15, 2023 at approximately 8:40pm while on patrol a Kawartha Lakes Police officer observed a male known to be wanted by police in the passenger seat of a vehicle traveling in the area of Angeline Street North and St Joseph Road in Lindsay. The officer conducted a traffic stop, while speaking with the occupants of the vehicle the passenger provided a false name to police. The male was arrested and found to be in possession of a quantity of cash and 99 grams of cocaine. During the investigation the police also seized, 37 grams of suspected fentanyl, a shotgun, an air soft handgun and shotgun ammunition.

As a result of the investigation, two males have been charged with the following:

Dalton Walker (29 years) of Lindsay:

  • Careless use, storage, handling, transport of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2

Walker will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on September 14, 2023.

Lincoln Fortier (29 years) of Lindsay:

  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Careless use, storage, handling, transport of firearms
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance X2
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order X2

Fortier was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

 

Impaired driver arrested

On Wednesday August 16, 2023 at approximately 4:40am Kawartha Lakes Police received a report from a concerned citizen about a male asleep in a parked car in a parking lot on Highway 35 North. Officers located the parked vehicle; the driver was passed out behind the wheel. The officer woke the driver and while speaking with him observed signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for operation while impaired. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Cameron man has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand, obstruct peace officer and operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on September 14, 2023.
