Six vehicles reported stolen in past 24hrs, one recovered, one arrest

On the morning of November 23, 2022 several vehicles were reported stolen to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service.

During the investigation it has been learned that the suspects were traveling in a gray Honda Civic. They utilized a sophisticated device contained in a backpack to clone vehicle fobs within the victim’s residence allowing them to steal five Dodge Ram pickup trucks and a Toyota Highlander from various locations around Lindsay. On the afternoon of November 23, investigators from the Kawartha Lakes Police Service received information from the Quebec Provincial Police, Surete Du Quebec about a vehicle they had stopped a black, 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck, believed to be stolen from Lindsay and not yet reported. Local investigators confirmed this to be true and members of the Surete Du Quebec arrested the driver, a Quebec male for possession of the stolen vehicle.

Impaired driver arrested

On Wednesday November 23, 2022 the Kawartha Lakes Police received the report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Lindsay Street North and King Street in Lindsay. Officers located the vehicle parked in a King Street parking lot, the driver had gotten out of the vehicle and returned a short time later. While speaking with the driver the officers noticed signs of impairment and observed alcohol and drug packaging within the vehicle. As a result of an investigation, 31-year-old Brett McDonnell of Dunsford has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drug and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on January 5, 2023.
