Impaired driver arrested
On Thursday April 6, 2023, at approximately 5:30pm Kawartha Lake Police responded to the area of Caroline Street and Queen Street in Lindsay for a possible impaired driver. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle officers observed signs of impairment. As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Lindsay man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
Later the same evening, the 37-year-old male approached an acquaintance who was parked on Caroline Street speaking to another friend. He struck the male several times, biting his hand before the victim was able to flee the area. The victim attended the Ross Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. As a result, of the attack the accused has been charged with assault.
The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on May 18, 2023.
Robbery investigation
Kawartha Lakes Police are investigating after a women had her purse stolen Saturday evening.
On Saturday April 8, 2023, while walking on Queen Street in the area of St Peter Street in Lindsay the victim was approached by a male who stole her purse. The male ran into Queen Street, entering the passenger side of an awaiting pick-up truck. The vehicle was last seen travelling west on Queen Street. No physical injuries resulted from this incident.
As a result of the investigation, it was learned that the victims debit card was later used to make multiple transactions in the Bobcaygeon area.
The suspect is described as; male, wearing a baseball hat, plaid shirt, jeans and white running shoes.
Vehicle description; grey, 2010, Ford Explorer Sport Trac,Ontario license plate “BV 35147”
