Fraud arrest

On Thursday, January 13, 2023 the Kawartha Lakes Police received the report of a possible fraud at a Lindsay car dealership.

Staff at the dealership had learned from the finance office that an online purchase of a new vehicle had been declined. It was reported that the identification used to complete the purchase was fraudulent.  On Friday January 14, 2023, officers attended the car dealership when the customer attended to complete the purchase. Upon speaking with the customer, members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Criminal Investigation Branch and Uniform Branch entered into a fraud investigation. As a result of the investigation, two individuals were arrested and charged. 48-year-old Krista Darlington of Bradford and 28-year-old Perry Opoku-Agyemang of Brampton have been charged with personation with intent to obtain property and fraud over $5000.

The accused parties will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on February 23, 2023.
