Male facing multiple arson charges
On July 20, 2022 at 1:02AM Kawartha Lakes Police responded with Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue Services after calls reporting lots of smoke in the area of Mary Street and James Street in Lindsay. Emergency services attended the area and located a structure fire at an abandon warehouse on James Street. While searching the area for suspects, police received information that a male was being treated for burn wounds by emergency medical services at a Lindsay Street South business. Officers attended and arrested the accused, 25-year-old Riley Cormier of Lindsay for arson – damage to property and fail to comply with probation order X2. As a result of further investigation, the accused has been charged with arson – damage to property X4, arson – disregard for human life and fail to comply with probation order x9 in relation to five fires reported since April 30, 2022 when the iron bridge in Lindsay was burnt.
The accused will appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 20, 2022.
