Male arrested for theft of vehicle and flight from peace officer

On March 8, 2022 at 9:35am, Kawartha Lakes Police received a complaint after witnesses observed a male stealing a patient transport van which had been parked in front of Ross Memorial Hospital.

With the assistance of witnesses, police quickly located the vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Angeline Street North. The driver of the vehicle, refused to stop for police. The driver, drove down a dead-end street and came to a stop, where he was arrested by officers. 43-year-old Steven Smith of Toronto is charged with theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, flight from peace officer, dangerous operation and three Highway Traffic Act offences. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on April 14, 2022.

 

Male arrested for theft

On March 8, 2022 at 7:48am Kawartha Lakes Police received a theft complaint from a Lindsay Street South resident. The complaint reported the theft after reviewing home security video and observing an unknown male on his property at 3:00am. The male was observed checking vehicles and sheds, then left the property taking a garden trailer with him.  At 2:54pm on the same date, police received a call after a suspicious male unsuccessfully tried to enter a Riverview Road residence. Police located the male who was found in possession of the garden trailer stolen earlier in the day. 31-year-old Blake Lanham of Ops Twp is charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on April 14, 2022.
