Impaired Driving

On March 24, 2025, at 8:26pm police were on general patrol in the area of Lindsay Street South and Kent Street West when they observed a vehicle with rear end damage, delay proceeding into the intersection after a light change and failing to signal a turn once it did.

A traffic stop was conducted and police learned that the owner of the vehicle was under suspension having been charged with Failing to Provide a Breath Sample one month prior. The driver of the stopped vehicle was the owner, and further investigation revealed that he had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver refused to provide a breath sample into an approved screening device and was subsequently arrested and returned to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service.

A 37-year-old Fenelon Township man was charged with:

• Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
• Drive While Under Suspension
• Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
• Fail to Signal for Turn

The accused vehicle was impounded, and his driver’s licence was further suspended for 90 days. He was released with a future court date.
