Shoplifting

The Kawartha Lakes Police Service arrested two individuals over the weekend in connection with multiple thefts from local businesses.

On January 20, 2025, a male entered a local business and concealed a large quantity of cosmetics before leaving the store without paying.  The male re-attended on two separate days stealing more items which was caught on video surveillance.  Using the video officers located the male on January 25 2025, at 11:10pm and placed him under arrest.  A 49-year-old male from Lindsay, ON was charged with 3 counts each of Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

Between January 23, 2025, and January 25, 2025, a male suspect entered into two local alcohol retailers and concealed items before leaving the store without paying.  The incidents were captured on video surveillance where officers identified the suspect.    On January 26, 2025, at approximately 3:33pm officers were on general patrol and located the suspect on Russell St W. where he was arrested.  A 30-year-old male from Lindsay, ON was charged with 3 counts each of Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
