Firearm offence arrest
On Saturday, September 16, 2023 at approximately 12:45pm the Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Lindsay Street North residence about a male who was observed with what was believed to be a firearm. Officers attended the residence; and during the investigation located a loaded BB gun in the possession of the suspect who is on a firearms prohibition order. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Jason Medina-Hanusiak of Lindsay has been charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order and fail to comply with probation. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Linday on October 26, 2023.
Theft arrest
A 33-year-old Lindsay man is facing charges after an incident at a Kent Street West business on Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 6:00pm on September 16, 2023, officers were called after staff in the Kent Street West business reported a person had left the store without paying for merchandise. Staff stopped the man outside of the store until police arrived and continued the arrest without incident. The items were returned to the store.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Linday on October 26, 2023.
