Investigative Update – Stabbing Arrest

A Lindsay man is in custody after another male was taken to the Ross Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after a stabbing this morning.

This investigation is ongoing, any further details will be released when available.

Stabbing investigation

The Kawartha Lakes Police are investigating an unprovoked stabbing on William Street North that sent one man to hospital early this morning.

On Monday July 17, 2023 at approximately 5:00am while out for a walk the victim was approached by an unknown male asking for a cigarette. The male became agitated, kicking and stabbing the victim before leaving the area with a second person who appeared to be waiting across the street. The suspect is described as, male, white, tall, slim build, short dark hair, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

The injuries resulting from this incident appear to be non-life threatening.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Criminal Investigation Branch is actively investigating this incident and ask anyone with information that would help in identifying the suspect to contact police at 705-324-5252. Impaired driver arrested

On Friday July 14, 2023 at approximately 3:30pm the Kawartha Lakes Police received a call from a concerned citizen reporting two individuals who appeared to be passed out in a parked vehicle on Lindsay Street South. Police located the vehicle with the engine running with two occupants inside who were unconscious. While attempting to wake them, the officer observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and a drug influence evaluation was conducted on him by a Drug Recognition Expert.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Madoc man has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, failure to comply with release order, fail to comply with probation and one Highway Traffic Act infraction. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on August 24, 2023.

 

Impaired driver arrested

On Sunday July 16, 2023 at approximately 2:00am while on patrol a Kawartha Lakes Police officer observed a vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lane on Lindsay Street North in Lindsay. The officer stopped the vehicle, while speaking with the driver signs of impairment were observed. An open can of alcohol was located in the console of the vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Fenelon Falls man has been charged with operation while impaired – drugs and alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and one Liqour Licence and Control Act infarction. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on August 24, 2023.

 

 Prohibited driver arrested

On July 17, 2023 at approximately 3:30am while on patrol a Kawartha Lakes Police officer observed a vehicle travelling westbound on Glenelg Street in Lindsay. The vehicle was being driven by a prohibited driver. The officer stopped the vehicle and the driver was arrested for operation while prohibited. As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Scarborough man has been charged with operation while prohibited X7 and fail to comply with probation order X2. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street Wes t in Lindsay on August 24, 2023.
