Impaired driver arrested

On Friday May 26, 2023 at 6pm, Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Kent Street West drive-thru after a patron, who was falling asleep behind the wheel crashed into a pole. When officers arrived, the driver was unresponsive in the driver seat with the vehicle running. The driver was woken up and smelled of alcohol, a number of empty alcohol containers were observed inside the vehicle. He was placed under arrest and transported to the police station for a breath test, resulting in a blood-alcohol level over four times the legal limit. As a result of the investigation, a 26 -year-old Port Perry man has been charged with operation while impaired – drug and alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 6, 2023.

 

Stolen vehicle recovered

On Monday May 29, 2023 at 3:50am, while on patrol a Kawartha Lake Police officer conducted a traffic stop to investigate after observing a vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner on Heritage Way in Lindsay. During the investigation, police learned that the vehicle was stolen and was not yet reported to police. A 39-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and one charge each in contravention of the Highway traffic Act and Liquor Licence and Control Act. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 6, 2023.
