Stolen vehicle recovered

On Thursday March 9, 2023, just before 7:30am the Kawartha Lakes Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. The caller observed a male passed out with his head on the wheel of a vehicle parked in a lot on Kent Street West in Lindsay. When officers arrived they located the vehicle, the driver was found sleeping at the wheel of the running vehicle. During the investigation, officer learned the vehicle was reported stolen from Toronto and the driver was arrested. At the time of his arrest officers located cannabis on the passenger seat of the vehicle. A 44-year-old Toronto man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, have car and one infraction contrary to the Cannabis Control Act. The accused was held for a bail hearing on Thursday.

 

Theft arrest

On Thursday March 9, 2023, at 4:50pm the Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Kent Street West business after a male left a store with stolen property. The male was observed selecting items from a display rack and concealing them in a reusable shopping bag before leaving the store without paying. Officers identified the male with the assistance of video surveillance, he was located a short time later and arrested. A 44-year-old Lindsay man is charged with theft under $5000, he will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on April 20, 2023.

 

KLPS investigating a break and enter, assault

On March 10, 2023, at 2:55am, members of the Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a report of a break and enter to a Lindsay Street South residence. While standing on the front porch, a resident of the home was attacked by a group of unknown suspects. The confrontation continued into the entry way of the home where a second resident was struck in the face by an unknown object before suspects fled the area. Officers searched the area with the assistance of Peterborough Police Canine Unit with negative results. Police believe this to be a targeted incident. Non-life threatening injuries resulted from the attack.
