Mischief arrest

On Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 8:26AM the Kawartha Lakes Police responded to the complaint of a smashed window at a Kent Street West business. Attending officers, identified the suspect with the assistance of video surveillance from the business which showed a male approach the business with a cinder block in his hand and throw it through the window. 27-year-old Jakob Manning of Lindsay has been charged with mischief under $5000 and breach of probation. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on November 17, 2022.

Weapon charges

On Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 4:50PM the Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Kent Street West location where the complainant located a male in his vehicle. The vehicle owner and a co-worker approached the male found rummaging through the vehicle, which led to a physical confrontation. During the confrontation the male pulled out a knife, swiping it towards the complainants before fleeing the area. Officers located the male with the assistance of the complainants and placed him under arrest. The male was found in possession of a knife and property stolen from the vehicle. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. 31-year-old Mark English of Lindsay has been charged with assault with a weapon X2, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft under $5000 from a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime and fail to comply with probation order. The accused will attend the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on November 17, 2022.

Weapon charges

On Thursday October 13, 2022 at 9:05PM Kawartha Lakes Police were called after an unwanted person in an apartment escalated, resulting in a confrontation involving a knife. When officers arrived, they learned that an individual who stepped in to diffuse the matter was approached and struck with a knife, causing multiple lacerations. As a result of this investigation, 39-year-old Michael Martin of Lindsay has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault cause bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay.

 Impaired driver arrested

On Saturday October 15, 2022 at 4:41PM Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a call from a member of the public who believed an impaired driver was operating a vehicle on the property of Memorial Park in Lindsay.  Officers located the vehicle with an occupant inside and noticed he was displaying signs of impairment. A sample of breath was given into a roadside screening device by the occupant and he was placed under arrest. 51-year-old Troy McKeigue of Pefferlaw has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on November 24, 2022.

Impaired driver arrested

On Sunday October 16, 2022 at 6:21pm Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Lindsay Street South business to check on the welfare of a vehicle occupant. When officers arrived, they found two individuals sleeping in the vehicle. While officers spoke with the passenger, the driver turned the vehicle on, revving the engine while the vehicle remained in park. While speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The driver failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. 37-year-old Amie Stroud of Orillia has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on November 24, 2022.
