Catalytic converter thefts

The Kawartha are investigating after two catalytic convertors were reported stolen from vehicles sometime during the overnight hours of May 10 into the morning of May 11, 2022.

Officers were made aware that one of the catalytic converters was stolen from a vehicle while parked in a parking lot on Angeline Street North. The second was stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway on Angeline Street South in Lindsay.

Catalytic converters are part of a motor vehicle’s emission system, located between the engine and muffler. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity or individuals to police immediately.

Impaired driver arrested

On Wednesday May 11, 2022 at 7:30pm a Kawartha Lakes Police Service constable stopped a vehicle travelling on Colborne Street West, in order to investigate a traffic infraction. While speaking with the driver, the officer observed alcohol in the vehicle that was readily available to the driver. Through investigation, the officer determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and placed him under arrest. 26-year-old Kyal Wasson of Lindsay has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus and one charge each in contravention of the Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and the Liquor Licence Act. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on June 23, 2022.
