Workplace accident

On Friday April 29, 2022 at 8:15am the Kawartha Lakes Police Service along with Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service responded to a Thornhill Road construction site for a workplace accident. A male was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.  The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development was notified of the incident and will continue the investigation.

Structure fire

On Saturday April 30, 2022 at 10:57pm the Kawartha Lakes Police Service attended the area of Durham Street East to assist Kawartha Lakes Fire Services at a structure fire. Officers secured the area, blocking off the foot bridge commonly referred to as the iron bridge which was on fire. The bridge allows public to cross the Scugog river from Durham Street West to Logie Street. The fire has been deemed suspicious. The Kawartha Lakes Police Criminal Investigations Branch has taken over this investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 705.324.5252. Robbery Investigation

On Sunday May 1, 2022 at 2:48pm, the Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to a call on Kent Street West for a robbery. A female had exited a business and was walking on Kent Street West when a male on a bicycle pulled her purse off her shoulder and fled the area. The suspect is described as male, white, medium build, 20 to 30 years old, wearing a black hat with ear flaps and a beige-coloured plaid jacket. Police recovered the victim’s purse in the area of the Wellington Street bridge. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 705.324.5252.
