Male arrested for firearm offences
On Saturday January 8, 2022 at 8:01pm the Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to a Division Street rooming-house after a male pointed a firearm at another resident. The resident left the house and called police. Officers attended and set up containment around the residence for public safety. Officers made contact with the male and negotiated with him to leave the residence which he refused to do. OPP Tactical Response Unit attended to assist and took over containment around the house. After several hours, a warrant was issued, giving officers judicial authority to enter the residence.
At 2:35am the OPP Tactical Response Unit entered the residence and took the male into custody. Officers seized a replica firearm while executing a search warrant.
35-year-old Alexander LeClair of Lindsay is charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and breaching the conditions of release order not to possess any weapons of firearms, failure to notify change of address.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
