KLPS Members Chip In To Buy Local Girl New Bike

As Constable Scott Duffy surfed Facebook this week he read a post about a local 12 year old girl who had her bicycle stolen. Skye Dietrich worked most of last summer so that she could buy herself a new bicycle with her own money, only to have it stolen from her earlier this week. Duffy approached P.C. Brendan Johnston, President of the Lindsay Police Association, with the thought of replacing the bicycle that Skye had worked so hard to buy for herself.

On Thursday April 16th that thought became reality when Johnston and Community Service Officer Carrie Jenkins attended at a local retailer with the Dietrich family and purchased Skye a new bike. “We think it is important to recognize the accomplishments of our youth and to let them know that we are paying attention to their hard work” said Johnston. As Skye received the bike she thanked the officers and made it clear that she intended to “pay it forward” by creating a Facebook page to raise money for our local food bank. Keep up the good work Skye and enjoy your new ride!
