Impaired Driving Arrest

On Saturday August 31st, 2024 at approximately 8:30pm Kawartha Lakes Police Service were conducting a RIDE program in the area of Highway 36 in Lindsay.  A vehicle approached the officers conducting the RIDE and stopped in the middle of the roadway, not where the driver had been directed to stop by police.  Further investigation revealed that the 27-year-old male from York was impaired.  Officers also located open alcohol in the vehicle, the driver was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Care and control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

The passenger in the vehicle was also charged with having liquor in an open container in unauthorized place.

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90 -day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7-days.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on October 10th 2024.

 

Break and Enter

On Tuesday September 3rd 2024, at approximately 4:00am Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to an alarm call at a business in downtown Lindsay.  Officers were able to view video surveillance from the business and further investigation revealed the identity of both suspects involved.  Kawartha Lakes Police Service then received a second call regarding another business that had been broken into also in the downtown area.  Video surveillance from the business showed one of the same suspects from the other break in was also responsible for the second break and enter.

Police were able to quickly locate and arrest the 35-year-old male from Lindsay responsible for both incidents.  He was haled for bail and charged with the following offences:

  • Break, enter a Place – Commit Indictable offence X2
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5,000 X2
  • Failure to Comply with probation X2
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Possession of Break in Instruments

Kawartha Lakes police also located the other suspect involved in the first incident, the 52-year-old male from Lindsay was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Break, enter a Place – Commit Indictable offence
  • Failure to Comply with probation X2

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on October 10th 2024.
