Man and Woman Charged After Stolen Goods Pawned
A man and woman from Lindsay have both been charged after pawning items that had been stolen in early November from a Kent Street West store.
On November 14th, 2017 Kawartha Lakess Police were contacted by security personnel of a Kent Street West store after they reviewed video surveillance which showed a man and woman stealing some power tools. Within hours of the theft, the couple attended at a downtown Lindsay buy and sell store and traded the items for cash. Police were able to identify the couple and arrested them on November 29th, 2017.
21-year-old Jacob Bryans and 19-year-old Chelsea Gawley, both of Lindsay, were charged with Theft Under $5000.00, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00 and Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000.00. They will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, January 4th, 2018.
Man Arrested After Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriends Home
A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged after Kawartha Lakes Police received a 911 call to a Glenelg Street West home early Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 12:00 am on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017 police responded to a 911 call for a domestic disturbance at a Glenelg Street West home. When police arrived, it was found that a couple had been involved in a verbal argument. Officers on scene recognized that man as being wanted on another matter, and he was arrested. He was also instructed by his girlfriend that he was no longer welcome at her home. The man was released from custody later in the morning and immediately returned to the girlfriends home and broke in. Another argument ensued which resulted in the man assaulting the woman. Police returned to the residence and located the man hiding in the kitchen. He was arrested and detained in custody.
The 21-year-old man from Lindsay was charged with Break and Enter and Assault with a Weapon. He will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, December 14th, 2017. The name of the man will not be released to protect the privacy of the victim.
Police Seek Information On Arson of Stolen Van
Kawartha Lakes Police are seeking information regarding a stolen van that was found engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning.
Police was called to Memorial Park on Lindsay Street South at 5:38 am on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 regarding a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames. When police arrived, they were able to determine that the 2008 Chevrolet Venture Van had been stolen from the Bobcaygeon area earlier in the morning. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire.
