Arrested Shoplifter Wanted On Child Luring Charges
A man wanted by Kawartha Lakes Police on charges of child luring and other child pornography-related charges was arrested by the staff of a downtown Lindsay grocery store for shoplifting on Tuesday afternoon.
Kawartha Lakes Police were called to Russell Street grocery store just after 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017 after staff at the store observed a man conceal a number of food items and attempt to leave the store without paying for them. When police arrived, they realized that the arrested man was also wanted by Kawartha Lakes Police in relation to an investigation into a man who was seeking out young females on the internet.
The investigation was commenced in May of 2017 after the London Police Service was contacted by a 16-year-old female who been contacted by a man on Facebook. The man had used a fake Facebook account to establish contact with the girl and eventually try and co-coerce her into sending him pornographic pictures of herself. The man had also sent her pictures of his genitalia to her.
When the female provided pictures to the man he sent them to other people he had befriended on Facebook. Further investigation revealed that the man was a Lindsay resident, which resulted in the investigation being forwarded to Kawartha Lakes Police. In early November of 2017, Kawartha Lakes Police issued a warrant for the arrest of 48-year-old Robert Darryl Brown of Lindsay.
Brown was detained in custody on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017 on charges of Luring a Child, Unlawfully Possess Child Pornography, Distribute Child Pornography, Publication of Intimate Images Without Consent, Making Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Child, Theft Under $5000.00, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00 and Failing to Comply with a Recognizance. He will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, November 23rd, 2017.
Police Seek Information About Russell Street B&E
Kawartha Lakes Police are looking for anyone who may be able to provide them with information about a residential break and enter that occurred on Wednesday.
Police were called to a home on Russell Street near Simcoe Street in Lindsay at 4:50 on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 after the homeowner discovered that the home had been entered at some point during the day. When they arrived home, the owner noticed that they were missing a 42 inch LG flatscreen TV from their basement, along with jewellery, other electronic devices and a quantity of cash. The total value of missing property would be near $5000.00.
