Shotgun Found During Search Warrant – Numerous Weekend Arrests

Search Warrant Nets Shotgun

 A 43-year-old Lindsay woman has been charged with several firearms-related and drug charges after Kawartha Lakes Police executed a search warrant at a Georgian Street home last Friday.

The investigation began when police received information that the woman was in possession of a shotgun that she was not legally entitled to possess. Police obtained a search warrant, and the home was entered shortly after noon on Friday, November 10th, 2017. Once inside the police located a 12 gauge shotgun, a small quantity of marijuana and a small quantity of cannabis resin.

Brenda Horslen, 43 years of age, has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Careless Storage of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Cannabis Resin. She will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, December 21st, 2017.

 

Man And Woman Charged After Release Conditions Breached

 On November 6th, 2017 a Lindsay man was arrested and charged after Kawartha Lakes Police investigated a domestic assault allegation. When the man was released on those charges, he was placed on conditions to remain away from the victim of the assault.

On November 10th, 2017 Kawartha Lakes Police became involved in a second investigation regarding the man and the victim in the original matter. Police also became involved in an investigation into an allegation that the man had assaulted two young children of the victim. As a result of that investigation, it was learned that on November 9th, 2017 the victim in the matter picked up the children and the accused male and drove him to an out of town location, breaching the conditions that were put in place on November 6th, 2017.

As a result of both investigations, the 32-year-old man from Lindsay has been charged with Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and two counts of Assault. The 25-year-old female was charged with Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. The male was detained in custody for a Bail Hearing, and the female will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, December 21st, 2017.

 

Little Britain Man Charged After Early Morning Stop

 A 20-year-old Little Britain man will be heading to court on drinking and driving related offences after being stopped by Kawartha Lakes Police early Saturday morning.

The incident began shortly before 2:30 am on Saturday, November 11th, 2017 when a Kawartha Lakes Police officer stopped a vehicle on Cambridge Street south near Glenelg Street west. When the officer spoke with the male driver, he noted a strong smell of alcohol on the man. After further observations, the man was arrested for impaired driving. He was taken to KLPS where he provided samples of his breath, registering readings more than the legal limit.

Devon Myers, 20, of Little Britain, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Exceed .08 and Drive While Under Suspension. He was released from custody and will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, December 21st, 2017.

 

Two Charged In Domestic Situation

 A man and woman have both been charged after discussions over a pending separation got out of hand.

Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted shortly after 6:00 pm on Monday, November 13th, 2017 after a telephone was broken when a female attempted to call 911. When police arrived, it was learned that the man and woman were involved in discussions over a pending separation. The man got upset and entered the family home followed by the woman. While arguing over a set of keys, the woman attempted to call the police and the man grabbed her phone and bent it, breaking the screen. The woman then used the home phone to call 911. As the investigation progressed, it was learned that another argument had occurred between the couple on November 12th, 2017 where the female had assaulted the male while arguing over family court papers.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with Mischief Under $5000.00, and the 30-year-old woman has been charged with Assault and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. Both parties will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, December 21st, 2017.
