Cigarette Thief Detained In Custody
A 23-year-old man of no fixed address was detained in custody after failing to pay for a package of cigarettes at a Kent Street West convenience store.
Kawartha Lakes Police were called to the store at 9:30 pm on October 10th, 2017 after a man entered the store and requested a package of cigarettes. After the clerk handed the man the package, he removed a cigarette and attempted to light it in the store. When the clerk prevented him from lighting up, the man left the store without paying for the cigarettes. When police arrived, they located the man behind the store still in possession of the cigarettes.
Jacob TOOHEY-CARIGNAN of no fixed address was detained in custody. He appeared for a bail hearing on charges of Theft Under $5000.00 and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order at the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, October 11th, 2017.
Mary Street Break & Enters
Kawartha Lakes Police are investigating after two separate break and enters Mary Street West was reported to them on October 11th, 2017. In the first occurrence, a garage was entered sometime between 6:00 pm on October 10th, 2017 and 11:00 am on October 11th, 2017 unknown person(s) entered a garage and removed a quantity of power tools, including Dewalt and Skil drills and orbital sanders. The second break and entered occurred between the afternoon hours of Monday, October 9th and the evening hours of Tuesday, October 10th, 2017. In this occurrence, a trailer located on the property was entered, and a MIG welder, LG Flat screen television, Sony PlayStation 3 and a number of other personal items were removed.
