Neighbour Dispute Escalates: One Arrested

An ongoing neighbour dispute in a Lindsay Street South apartment building escalated Tuesday, which resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old woman.

Kawartha Lakes Police were called to the apartment building shortly after 10:00 am Tuesday after being contacted by a woman who alleged she had been assaulted. When police arrived, it was learned that the assault had occurred after the woman left her apartment with her boyfriend. There was an exchange of words between the victim and her next door neighbour, who then struck the victim in the back the head with her cell phone. Further investigation revealed that the accused woman had also been throwing eggs from her part of the balcony onto the victim’s part of the balcony.

26-year-old Heather McNown of Lindsay has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Mischief Under $5000.00. She will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, June 15th, 2017.

Man Held For Bail After Breaching His Recognizance

A 45-year-old Lindsay man will appear for a bail hearing this morning after being arrested Tuesday for breaching his recognizance.

Just before 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted by a woman who was alleging that her ex-spouse was breaching a condition of his release. After an investigation, it was determined that the man had been released on a Recognizance of Bail stemming from a domestic situation that occurred in April of 2017. A condition of that release was that he remain away from the residence of the female victim. On May 23rd, 2017 the victim contacted police after she observed the man in the area of her home. The man was later located by police and arrested.

The 45-year-old man, whose name will not be released, will appear in Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, May 25th, 2017 on charges of Failing to Comply with a Recognizance and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order.
