Trashing Houses, For the Birds
On Friday, May 12th, 2017 Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted by a representative from the Frost Campus of Fleming College, after it was discovered that 15 bird houses had been damaged overnight from May 9th, 2017 to May 10th, 2017.
The birdhouses, which are randomly placed throughout the College property are used to attract a number of species of birds to the area. Unknown suspect(s) attended at each wooden house and managed to smash them beyond repair, rendering them useless. Pregnant Woman Assaulted
A 28-year-old Lindsay man was detained in custody after it was reported that he was involved in an assault on his common-law spouse on Friday.
At 7:45 pm on Friday, May 12th, 2017 Kawartha Lakes Police were called to a Lindsay residence after it was reported that a female had been assaulted. When police arrived, it was learned that the woman and her common-law boyfriend had been involved in a verbal dispute over the status of their relationship. The verbal argument escalated to the point where the male pushed the female, and she struck radiator in the home. The female, who is five months pregnant, was not injured.
The 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with Assault and Failing to Comply with a Condition of a Probation Order. He was held in custody and will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Monday, May 15th, 2017 for a bail hearing. The name of the accused will not be released to protect the privacy of the victim.
54-Year-Old Lindsay Man Charged with Sexual Assault
A 54-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with Forcible Confinement and Sexual Assault after a woman reported to police that he rubbed his crotch in her face, while she was sitting at his kitchen table.
The female contacted Police shortly after 1:00 pm on May 14th, 2017 after she had been assaulted. She reported that she had been at the apartment of the man, who she reported had been a friend of hers, when the incident occurred. She had attended at the apartment to assist the man with cleaning it. While they were sitting at the kitchen table, the man got up to put something in the garbage. As he passed by her, he grabbed her head and forced it into his crotch. She also reported that over the past week she had temporarily been staying with the man while she was in between residences. During that time the man would use electrical cord to secure the apartment door and prevent her from leaving. Police arrested the man, and he was detained in custody on charges of Sexual Assault and Forcible Confinement.
The man will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Monday, May 15th, 2017 for his bail hearing. Police will not be releasing the name of the accused to protect the privacy of the female.
Female Charged After Man Struck With Dog Leash
A 23-year-old Lindsay woman has been charged with Assault with a Weapon after she struck her common-law husband with a dog leash during a domestic dispute.
Kawartha Lakes Police were called to the residence twice on Sunday, May 14th, 2017 for reports of a domestic disturbance. On the second occasion, it was learned that the verbal dispute had escalated and the female had lashed out at the male, striking him in the throat area with a chain dog leash. The male received minor injuries as a result of the strike.
The female was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon. She was released from custody and will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, June 15th, 2017. The name of the accused is not being released to protect the privacy of the male victim.
