Shouldn’t Have To Say It But…Lock Your Car!
Kawartha Lakes Police are issuing a warning to Lindsay residents to lock their vehicles after fourteen thefts from vehicles were reported to them yesterday.
Police began to receive calls from Cook Street McGibbon Boulevard area residents early Wednesday morning regarding vehicles that had been entered. In total fourteen reports were made to police; most reporting missing loose change or vehicle documents. There were also reports of a missing GPS and Gym Bag with running shoes. In two incidents an open garage was also entered where a blue Nordic 18-speed mountain bike and beer were taken.
Police remind people that leaving your vehicle unlocked and/or with valuables in plain view offers would-be criminals an easy opportunity to victimize vehicle owners. Vehicle owners/passengers need to be vigilant about locking their vehicles as the warmer weather approaches as open vehicles offer would-be criminals an open invitation to steal not only property but your identity, which gives criminals the opportunity to further victimize individuals
