Suspicious Scooter Fire Being Investigated

Kawartha Lakes Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a mobility scooter and damaged a nearby building early this morning.

At 3:24 a.m. this morning Kawartha Lakes Police and Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue Services were called to a Kent Street West address in downtown Lindsay, regarding a fire. Upon arrival, the fire was located at the rear of the building and had begun to consume a door and ceiling of a small storage area. Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue Services were able to extinguish the fire before it caused too much damage. The fire originated at the scooter, which was not plugged in or charging at the time. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Police are investigating the fire as being suspicious and are asking that anyone who may have observed anybody in the area of Kent Street West and Lindsay Street in downtown Lindsay around the time of the fire to contact them.
