Police Seek To Identify Suspect In Attempted Break & Enters – Shotgun Stolen From Vehicle

Suspect Sought In Several Attempted Break and Enters

City of Kawartha Lakes Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect caught on video surveillance that they believe is responsible for several attempted break, enter & thefts overnight on November 9th, 2016.

All of the attempted break ins occurred in the overnight hours from November 8th, 2016 to November 9th, 2016 and Kawartha Lakes Police were advised of them as businesses began to open on the morning of November 9th, 2016. The first incident reported occurred at a Kent St. West business where the suspect attempted to gain entry to a rear door of the business. The door was damaged but secure deadbolts prevented the suspect gaining entry to the business. In the second incident the suspect tried to gain entry to an ATM machine located in the parking lot of an Angeline St. North mall. The suspect damaged the front of the machine while trying to pry the access door off of it. In the third incident the suspect tried access an Angeline St. North business through a rear window. The suspect was successful in damaging the window but it is believed they did not gain access to the business.

In a fourth incident that is possibly related to this suspect tools were removed from a Kent St. West construction site. Sometime overnight from November 8th, 2016 to November 9th, 2016 the suspect entered the site, which is part of the Lindsay Square mall removing items from the site. Items stolen include; Black Stihl Bag including a Milwaukee Kit; Milwaukee Sawzall, Milwaukee Hammer Drill, Milwaukee battery, BullDog snips, and Allen keys.

Police are seeking to identify the male in the surveillance footage who is described as male white with a tall slender build. He is wearing a bomber style jacket, ball cap, Addidas style running shores and carrying a back pack. Shotgun Stolen From Vehicle In Garage

City of Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted on November 9th, 2016 after a shotgun was stolen from inside a vehicle, which was located in a garage at a Ferguson Dr. home.

The owner of the shotgun reported that they had parked their vehicle in their garage at approximately 4:30pm on November 8th, 2016, with the shotgun and other hunting items secured in the trunk of the vehicle. When the owner came out to the vehicle at 4:00am on November 9th, 2016 they noticed that the garage and vehicle had been entered and the shotgun and other items had been removed. Missing from the vehicle are a Remington Model 870 shotgun, a Mossy Oak camouflage coat and two black back packs containing other hunting items. The shotgun has a black synthetic stock and forearm.
